Please continue to support Aberlour

Aberlour Child Care Trust would like to say a huge thank you to all of our supporters of the Gamu for No1 Campaign during the Christmas period.

Aberlour is the largest, solely Scottish, children’s charity and we provide help to over 6000 of Scotland’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families each year.

Our dedicated team of 800 staff work across the country from Stranraer to Elgin & Aberdeenshire helping children and young people who need additional care and support to achieve their potential and to live safe, fulfilling lives. At Aberlour we have adapted and customised our services in response to the changing needs of vulnerable children, young people and their families over the 130 years since the Aberlour orphanage was established in 1875.

We help:

• children whose lives are affected by parental drug and alcohol dependency
• young people who have social, educational and behavioural difficulties
• children and young people who run away from home and are exposed to risk of harm
• children and young people who have a disability
• young children to experience positive parenting, play and early learning

You can still continue to support Aberlour via any of our online communities, such as Facebook, Twitter and our Website, or you can subscribe to our YouTube Channel. And as always we would encourage you to share the information we provide about our service with all of your online communities, family and friends. Together we can make a difference to the lives of the Scotland's Children, after all they are our future.

A glimpse into some of Aberlour's work

Aberlour Child Care Trust would like to thank everyone so much for their support and dedication to making the Aberlour / Gamu Christmas single such a success. We may not have reached as high in the charts as we had hoped but the other benefits have been just as valuable. The amount of press coverage and reach we have had has been phenomenal and now so many more people know about Aberlour Child Care Trust and the work we do. This will truly benefit us in the long term and we have already started receiving donations from individuals who found out about us through the single and are impressed by the support we provide for children, young people and their families.

We would like to share a short video with you that shows some of the work we do and hopefully gives you a glimpse of how the money raised from the single will be spent.

If you would like more information on the work we do with children with disabilities please visit here.

Also, don't forget to become a fan of Aberlour to keep up-to-date with everything. Your support is very much appreciated.

Next 200 downloads will make double the money

Yesterday I put an offer on the Facebook Page saying that fatBuzz would donate 99p for every new download and many of you have taken up this offer (although there's room for more).

Thanks to John Young at Young Media, we can now extend the offer. John has kindly offered to repeat the fatBuzz deal so that Aberlour Child Care Trust will receive and extra 99p every time someone downloads the single for another 100 sales.

This gesture will make a big difference to the amount of support we can offer children. If you haven't already downloaded the single please go on line and buy it on iTunes or one of the store listed here. When you've made your purchase you will be sent a confirmation which you should forward to gordon@fatbuzz.com and we will make sure we add another 99p to our final donation.

We will also keep a tally for Young Media so all purchase confirmations should come to gordon@fatbuzz.com

If you like this idea or, you know somebody who will find it interesting, please use the Facebook and Twitter buttons below to share it with your online community - your assistance with this will make a difference and will be greatly appreciated.

Celebrities show their support

We're getting great support from celebrities for the campaign, here are two recent conrtibutions:

Michelle Mone OBE, creator of Ultimo, said;

“I’m thrilled to be supporting Aberlour Child Care Trust by backing Gamu’s charity single, ‘Where Will You Sleep This Christmas?’ Not only is it a spectacular song well worthy of the Christmas number one, but through buying the single we can help raise money for Aberlour Child Care Trust, which helps vulnerable young people and their families. It’s a fantastic cause and an accomplished single. I really hope everyone gets behind it.”

Lord of the Rings actor, Billy Boyd said:

“Gamu’s single with the Aberlour choir is a really strong contender for the number 1 spot this Christmas. Knowing that all the money made from the single will help vulnerable and disadvantaged kids is reason enough to buy it. I’d love to see the public get behind Gamu to make her fantastic single a hit this Christmas.”

Thank you to Michelle and Billy, their support is greatly appreciated.

Great start...thank you all

http://tinyurl.com/gamusong
We've got off to a great start today with the single moving well into the charts on iTunes (currently No84) and rising steadily. The online activity has been fantastic today with lots of people discussing the single and recommending to friends on Facebook and Twitter.

We need to keep the momentum going in the right direction and we would ask you to do whatever you can to get as many people as possible to download the single and to encourage their friends to do the same. Here is something I did earlier which has resulted in more than 20 of my friends replying to say they have now downloaded the single. It's easy to do and will be well worth while.

Using the "Send a message" link on Facebook. I sent the following message to all of my friends:

Hi

PLEASE TAKE ME OFF YOUR CHRISTMAS CARD LIST.

Instead I would like you to spend 99p downloading this song; you will benefit by getting a truly lovely Christmas song and Aberlour Child Care Trust will benefit by having more money to support kids.

If I wasn't on your Christmas card list it's most likely an oversight but please don't worry, I wont be offended if you download the single and help to make children No1 this Christmas. Please also send this message to all of your friends...after all, how many Christmas cards do you need?

You can download the song on iTunes at this link http://tinyurl.com/gamusong

Thank you and have a great time over the festive season.

Regards

Gordon White

Please give it a try, it will work.

We also need to continue to grow the Facebook Page so please remember to invite all of your friends to "Like" the page.

Early indications are good

This is the day we've all been waiting for and, early indications suggest sales are going well. There's lots of activity on the Facebook Page and lots of comments on the iTunes download page.

We have just created a shortened url to help people verbally pass on the iTunes link; it is tinyurl.com/gamusong Please tell as many people as you can.

MULTIPLE DOWNLOADS
We see that lots of people are buying up to 10 copies of the single which is great for the charity and will help lots of disadvantaged kids however, this wont necessarily help the chart position. If, for whatever reason, you are buying multiple copies you should limit the purchase to 3 from any one IP address.

COMMENTS ON iTUNES
If you are on iTunes to purchase the single, please take a moment to "Rate" the song and, to leave a comment about the song and the fact it's all for charity and disadvantaged kids, this will make a big difference.

NOT ON iTUNES?
Don't worry if you're not an iTunes user, there are many more places that you can download the single from tomorrow (Monday 13th December). There is a full list of download platforms by country at this link.

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?
We really need to get as many downloads as we possibly can, as quickly as we possibly can so, please make sure you tell all your friends the link to iTunes tinyurl.com/gamusong If you are on Facebook please make sure you "Share" relevant comments so that your community can see them.

Please send a message (using the "send a message" link) with the iTunes download information to everyone in your community. And, it's not just on Facebook; if you use Twitter please remember to put the link ( tinyurl.com/gamusong ) out to as many people as possible and make sure you ask them to RT (ReTweet)

RADIO STATIONS
It's really important to get the radio stations playing the single. We have listed the contact details of the main ones at this link, please make sure you contact them by text or email to request "Where Will You Sleep This Christmas?"

Having come into this race for No1 fairly late, we are a comparatively small group of people trying to do a massive thing so, we need everyone to do whatever they can to spread the word on line and off. We need word-of-mouth to play a part in getting the message out to people that the more downloads we achieve, the more disadvantaged children we can help.

Thank you for your support so far, it has been greatly appreciated.

Finally, if you have any promotion ideas, please post them as a comment in this blog, we would love to hear from you.
